What is a Lash Lift?2020-07-20T15:56:51+01:00

A Lash Lift works by straightening then curling the natural eyelash at the root, creating the appearance of longer, thicker lashes. It is finished by tinting the lashes at the end of the treatment providing instant results that opens up the eye.

What are the differences between the Eyelash Extensions?2020-07-20T15:56:46+01:00

The ‘Classic’ Individual Eyelash Extensions are synthetic lashes that are glued on 1:1 on every single eyelash. They are very natural looking as you can hardly see the attachment from the synthetic lash to the natural lash.

There are approximately 50-100 lashes on each eye, so the full procedure can take between 1hr 15 – 1hr 30, the lashes will fall out naturally just like your own and will need an infill every 2-3 weeks depending on your lash cycle.

A recommended break is advised every so often, as the lashes need to be fully hydrated and have a rest every so often (breaks depend from person to person)

The ‘Russian Volume’ Eyelashes are a fuller but fluffy look the fan of lashes are made into a fan of 3-6 lashes or also can be called 3D-6D fan.

The look is tailored to suit each individual, you can choose from a more natural to dramatic look. We will assess your lashes and depending on your lash health and length we will adapt to what is best for you and your eyelashes.

The Eyelashes will fall out naturally just like your own, infills are recommended every 2-3 weeks depending on how you look after them, and how you like the look of them.

The ‘Mix Set/Hybrid’ Eyelash Extensions are a mix of Individuals and Russians; they are not quite as full looking as the Russian Eyelashes.

Who can have Eyelash Extensions?2020-07-20T15:56:40+01:00

Nearly anyone! As long as you have a negative reaction from the patch test, you are good to go. The Eyelash Extensions are very natural looking lashes and are amazing for any occasion from weddings, holidays and parties to normal day to day life.

Individual Eyelash Extensions can make life substantially easier especially in the mornings. A lot of our clients that struggle with mascara love these, as they don’t have to worry about putting anything on. They don’t ruin your natural lashes, just as long as you don’t pull them out.

Do Eyelash Extensions damage my own natural eyelashes?2020-07-20T15:56:34+01:00

During your appointment we assess your natural lashes as well as the length and health, this will then determine the weight, curl and length we use. Eyelashes that are too long or to heavy can put strain on the natural eyelash which can make it weak and brittle and potentially the extensions will not last as long. Aftercare is also very important, how you treat your Extensions after the treatment is vital to healthy lashes and the treatment lasting longer.

How long do Eyelash Extensions last?2020-07-20T15:56:29+01:00

Eyelash Extensions when looked after properly can last anywhere between 4-8 weeks, BUT with the natural process of your own lashes shedding along with every day wear & tear. We recommend infill’s every 2-3weeks.

If you are wishing to keep the look of the treatment an Infill appointment is required every 2-3 weeks to help stop your extensions becoming sparse and keep your chosen style looking perfect.

You need to be very aware that your Eyelash Extensions are very delicate so extra care must be taken to avoid your extensions falling out prematurely.
Any oil base products including makeup removers, creams etc should be avoided on the lashes
Do not rub, over touch or pick your lashes and do not use eyelash curlers or mascara.

Do I need a patch test? I have had a Tint/Eyelash Extensions done elsewhere before.2020-07-20T15:56:23+01:00

Yes, most certainly. We don’t know what products your therapist has used before and from then to now you could have become allergic to the ingredients in the product.

What do I do before a Fake Bake Spray Tan?2020-07-20T15:56:17+01:00

Do not use any oily moisturisers to your skin, at the beginning of your treatment we will apply Fake Bake’s oil-free moisturising products on dry areas including elbows, hands, knees and feet, to stop the tan grabbing to these dry areas. Come to the salon wearing loose, dark clothing and be prepared to wear them for up to 8 hours while your tan develops.

Until you need to wash the excess tan off, please be mindful that the colour may transfer onto items of clothing or bedding. All of the Fake Bake ingredients in our products are water soluble and should easily wash out, please machine wash as soon as possible to remove any tan.

Fake Bake products are available to purchase at Lavella.

What is the difference between warm wax and hot wax?2020-07-20T15:56:09+01:00

Warm Wax

The wax is spread over the area after which a paper strip is pressed over it to adhere to both the wax and hairs, its then pulled off removing the hairs in that area from the root. this method of waxing will take off the very top layer of the skin too, providing an exfoliating effect to the skin along with the hair removal for extra smooth results.

Hot Wax

Warmed to a slightly higher temperature, hot wax is a much thicker wax made up of plastics too to allow it to set hard. It is applied to the skin, allowed to cool and set, and then pulled directly off without the use of a paper strips.

Hot wax sets around each of the hairs, it makes for a better grip and removal of thicker hairs that may be too stubborn to remove by warm wax. Hairs on the pubic area and underarms which grow thicker than other body hair are best removed with the hot wax for a cleaner and smoother result. The hot wax is also more effective at removing shorter hairs for this same reason of being able to adhere to the hair more for a better grip which in result can be a gentler treatment for the most sensitive of areas.

What is Micro-needling?2020-07-20T15:55:32+01:00

Microneedling is great for the following:

  • Acne scarring
  • Anti-ageing
  • Anti-wrinkle
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Scar reduction
  • Hair loss treatment / restoration

This treatment is also known as derma roller, skin-needling, collagen induction therapy.

It’s becoming a very popular skin rejuvenation technique for men and women to help restore a flawless and youthful appearance to the skin.

Microneedling is a process where precision hand held medical device is used with a cartridge needle that penetrates the skin causing thousands of micro injuries. Down in the deeper layers of the dermis the fibroblasts then produce the collagen and elastin to heal the area, which in turn improves the appearance of your skin and reverse the signs of ageing. It’s great for all skin types especially those concerned with lines and wrinkles and scaring from acne. Microneedling helps with appearance of skin imperfections making the skin smoother, brighter, and renews tired looking skin.

To help the needles glide across the skin Hyaluronic Acid serum which has a low molecular weight and penetrates into the micro wounds. It’s highly hydrating and is a fabulous anti-aging ingredient.

The redness that this treatment causes is due to the trauma; bruising can also be seen during Microneedling. The redness will slowly relieve from hour to hour but please note that redness can still be seen the day after.

We recommend to not wear any makeup after the procedure.

The treatment is finished with a mask that is packed full of Hyaluronic Acid, and depending on your skin type and skin concerns, will depend on which mask is used.

What is Diamond Dermabrasion?2020-07-20T15:55:22+01:00

This is a safe controlled method of skin resurfacing by gentle exfoliating the top layer of the skin with the tip of the device, reducing and smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. An excellent and progressive solution to open pores, blackheads, acne scars and much more.

The gentle vacuum action also achieves an immediate lifting effect on tired muscles increasing collagen and elastin fibres.

What is Dermalux LED/Phototherapy?2021-02-21T09:19:39+00:00

Phototherapy, meaning ‘Treatment with Light’ is the application of therapeutic light energy to stimulate or regulate specific biological processes with proven skin enhancing effects. The mechanism of action is a natural response similar to that of plant photo-synthesis through a process known as photobiomodulation.

Specific clinically proven wavelengths are absorbed by key skin receptors which trigger a transfer of light energy to cellular energy fuelling repair. Skin cells that are energised function better and can renew up to 200% faster to promote youthful, healthy and radiant skin.

LED Phototherapy is well evidenced for its regenerative and anti-inflammatory benefits without creating trauma making it safe and suitable for all skin types. The treatment has rapidly become a skin care essential for an immediate complexion boost and to target a range of problematic for example acne and rosacea skin concerns without downtime.

What is the principle of Carboxytherapy treatment?2021-02-27T13:17:30+00:00

By infusing carbon dioxide into the skin, an acidic environment develops. This signals our organism to secure oxygen to the tissue in the treated region and accumulate natural growth factors (vascular endothelial growth factors). Within several days after the treatment there is an increased natural distribution of oxygen in the places of application, a completely new microcirculation is created, lymphoid drainage is increased and in this way skin regeneration is achieved in a natural way.

What does a Carboxytherapy treatment look like?2021-02-27T13:18:07+00:00

During the treatment, a Carboxytherapy Gel is applied to the face in an even layer. A Carboxytherapy Activator Face Mask is then pressed firmly onto the gel. The interface produces a specific amount of carbon dioxide, which is infused into the skin.

During the treatment the client/patient may feel a slight tingling and the treated area can become mildly red due to a sudden deposit of oxygen. Within 5 minutes post treatment, the carbon dioxide applied to the skin is completely replaced by oxygen. The client/patient can go back to their usual activities after treatment and no recovery period is required.

How many Carboxytherapy treatments are required?2021-02-27T13:19:27+00:00

Depending on the desired results a series of between 4 to 8 treatments of non-invasive carboxytherapy may be required and the treatments can be conducted once every 7 to 14 days. The effects of a Carboxytherapy treatment are cumulative – with every subsequent treatment improving the results of the previous one.

Permanent Makeup

What is Permanent Makeup?2020-07-20T15:57:04+01:00

Permanent Makeup is a type of Cosmetic Tattooing, we use a digital machine with a cartridge needle to implant pigment into the skin. It is also known as Micropigmentation, Cosmetic Tattooing or Semi-Permanent Makeup.

The healed pigmentation resembles makeup and can look very natural. This treatment is available for the eyebrow or eyeliner.

What’s the difference between Permanent and Semi-Permanent Makeup?2020-07-20T15:56:02+01:00

Permanent and Semi Permanent tattoos are the same, it is just some technicians prefer to call it one or the other. We decide to call ours permanent as you are implanting pigment into the skin and as every skin is completely different no one can guarantee how long that pigment will last in the layers of the dermis.

This treatment is also known as Micropigmentation or Cosmetic Tattooing. Permanent Makeup is more delicate and the pigment doesn’t travel as deep into the skin as ordinary body tattoo plus the pigment has a smaller molecule so the body breaks down the pigment quicker so they do need retouching every 8-18months so they keep looking fresh.

It is important that you take good care of your Cosmetic Tattoo for example, keeping out of the sun and using a good SPF as constant/excessive sun exposure due to the UV rays will result in the pigment fading much faster, meaning more top up procedures will be required to maintain freshness of the pigment.

Does the treatment hurt?2020-07-20T15:55:56+01:00

It mostly depends on your pain threshold, and can sometimes be more sensitive if your body is going through its monthly cycle (ladies)

Some will say it feels ‘scratchy’, and it can feel a little tender at the end of the treatment.

How long will they last?2020-07-20T15:55:48+01:00

The pigment is inserted into the shallow layer of the skin known as the epidermis. This means it can fade a little quicker than traditional body tattoos, so a yearly top up is recommended.

Top ups are advised approximately every 12 months to keep the pigment looking fresh. But every skin type is different and some will hold the pigment longer and better than others.

Other factors that can cause the pigment to fade faster is the over exposure of UV rays.

We offer free Consultations for Permanent Makeup treatments, where we go through all the treatment process and aftercare.

Laser Hair Removal

What is Lynton Laser Hair Removal?2020-10-19T12:43:36+01:00

Lynton Laser Hair Removal is a safe, long-term solution to unwanted, excess hair for both men and women. It is suitable for the face and body, it is quick and results can be seen after just a few sessions.

How does light-assisted hair removal work?2020-10-19T12:44:03+01:00

Light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and selectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.

How is the treatment carried out?2020-10-19T12:44:29+01:00

The applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released, which targets many follicles simultaneously. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area of skin and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated.

Am I suitable for treatment?2020-10-19T12:44:55+01:00

Most people are suitable for treatment. Best results are often achieved with clients who have fair skin and dark hair.

Dark hair is more easily treated as it has a high concentration of melanin. Fair hair, however, contains less melanin and is harder to treat. We recommend a consultation with your clinician to ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you. Grey/white hair has no melanin so is not suitable for treatment.

How does the treatment feel?2021-02-27T13:15:50+00:00

Treatment sensation varies but is often described as “a ‑ flick of an elastic band”. Typically, no anaesthesia is required and most clients describe the discomfort as moderate and tolerable.

What will I see after the treatment?2020-10-19T12:46:04+01:00

The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The dead hairs shed after 1 – 3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

How long does each treatment take?2020-10-19T12:46:28+01:00

Treatments can take as little as 10 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Are there any side effects?2020-10-19T12:47:09+01:00

The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Unwanted reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.

How many treatments are necessary?2020-10-19T12:47:40+01:00

Only hair that is actively growing is affected, therefore multiple treatments are needed. Treatment is conducted every 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the area treated, until a satisfactory result is seen. The required number of treatments varies, but typically 6 or more treatments are needed for optimum results.

Do I need a Consultation prior to the treatment?2020-10-19T12:48:06+01:00

Yes, a consultation is conducted up to a week before the treatment. We will go through your medical history, look at your skin type and your hair on the area to be treated. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before the treatment commences you must provide written consent and a small test patch will be carried out.

Take some time. Treat yourself. You deserve it.
